In-Progress Watercolor, girl at chair
February 9, 2010
This painting is still a work-in-progress! When working with watercolors, I have such a difficult time pushing dark values because I fear putting down something that I can’t take off the paper. So I predict about ten additional layers of paint with this one, haha.

It looks beautiful, despite being “still in progress” Can’t wait to see it completed.

This looks so good. I love the little white highlights.

This is amazing! And it literally looks the same. Every time I draw a picture from a magazine, there’s always some difference in angle or just something. Your piece looks nearly identical to the picture. Wow x 1000. And the fact that this is in watercolor … I say this to everyone who can paint in watercolor, but I am both impressed and in awe of you. This is really stunning for a work-in-progress. Can’t wait to see the final product!

The way your hair, nose, and lips are framed in this painting reminds me of Shirley from Code Geass. In fact, with the tall, thin character design, you would fit right into that anime!

Beautiful! You are such a talented artist~

I know exactly what you mean (not that my stuff is nearly as good as yours). I just started working with ink wash and watercolor; and I do a million subtle layers because the fear of doing something I cannot undo just paralyzes me.
I’m that way with all art, actually. It makes me almost envy my friends who are into graphic design, with their sneaky undo and delete buttons.

lovely focus on the alternating dim glow sun-soaked colors :)

I think it’s very impressive! I love how you’ve managed to capture the texture of your top so well.

I love it! It’s so well done even now, but it does need to be a bit darker to be the same as the photo. You really did a good job with the outline of your face and the colour of your hair. And I can’t wait to see more of the maguro series too (from previous entry). xoxo
