New Orleans Architecture

One thing that has always drawn me to New Orleans are the buildings! Sadly I didn’t get to wander around the Garden District this time, but I did take plenty of photos in the French Quarter.

My house!
This house is a historical marker within the French District, and I couldn’t get a full shot since I was shooting with my 50mm ƒ1.8, but I had to take a picture because it actually belonged to one of my ancestors! My family is related to the General Beauregard from the Civil War, which is funny to think about considering my family (my parents, especially) are so incredibly liberal. See the second name? “Parkinson”? That’s my surname! But the weird thing is, we’re not even related to Beauregard through our Parkinson lineage (I guess that just pays testament to the inbreeding that went on back then). Anyway, I had to take a photo and share!

Hanging Gardens
I loved the hanging plants off of all of the balconies

Ooh I can’t wait to see how that painting comes out! Do you have pictures of the cemeteries?

Lindsey – I only saw the cemeteries from the highway this time as I was leaving New Orleans, but I will try to get some pictures of them the next time I visit! They are SO COOL!

I agree! I never get to spend enough time in them :[ The last time I went it rained so I only got a few gloomy shots. I want to see Marie Leveau’s grave!
