Last weekend, my family traveled to New Orleans to visit family. I hadn’t been in years – probably about a year before Hurricane Katrina. Upon returning, I remembered how much I loved this city, and what a shame it was that I had not visited more frequently (especially since my parents rent a condo there!) In just one day, my sister and I managed to take ~400 photos. She took most of them, and with her permission, I’ll be posting them here over a few posts. Visit her blog at Les Ombres Chinoises.
I’ll start out with one of my favorite New Orleans attractions: The Farmer’s Market!

My favorite object, which I sincerely wish I had bought, was a frog that croaked when you hit the ridges on its back with the little mallet. At this particular stand, they had dolphins, crickets, owls, and many more animals – all handmade.

This little darling was dancing in front of a huge crowd of people to an African band that was playing right outside the market.

I already have so many matryoshka dolls that I didn’t want to buy any more, but I know what you mean! I regret not getting a mask or a frog because they were so beautiful, but my sister did buy two masks!
