Keeping busy

Idolatry, oil on canvas

My painting studios have been occupying (is it possible to say this now without making a Wall St joke?) most of my time, and it doesn’t look like my load will lighten up for at least another month. Nonetheless, I finally feel as if I’m getting closer to defining my aesthetic, especially as it reflects the concepts my art is primarily concerned with. Here is one in-progress painting that I’ve been working on. The black is a bit streaky due to lighting.

And here’s my uninspired go-to outfit when I have to get dressed in a hurry: a lambswool little boy’s sweater from Crewcuts (J.Crew) and a Zara skirt. I need to teach my boyfriend how to focus the camera!

The lack of focus makes it all look very dreamy, even if technically questionable. I have just gotten into the little boys section myself (I have my eye on some adorable little peacoats from ralph lauren). Boyswear, as I like to call it, can look so sweet on those of us who are petite.

What size in the little boy’s sweaters do you usually buy? I often do the same for other brands, but never thought to do so for more pricier brands like J Crew.

In Crewcuts, I bought a boy’s size 10! Originally I had purchased a size 14, which had a nice relaxed fit, but it didn’t have the “shrunken” look that I wanted. (For reference, I usually wear a US size 0!)

What an incredible painting. I love the colors that you used. Especially the yellow behind her leg. Don’t worry about your picture, my husband is still learning too so I have some very “abstract/artistic” outfit pictures. :)

The painting is so lovely! And sometimes a simple outfit is best… I love the black with your hair.

Nice painting! Would love to see more of your work. I like the outfit quite a bit. A mix of menswear/school uniform is always sort of sexy and tailored.
