Ever since the Chanel RTW Fall 2011 show, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of the limited edition makeup that they used in the show. The nude lips and smokey metallic eyes were beautiful and timeless. A couple of weeks ago, the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet matte lipstick in “La Furtive” (the shade used in the show) finally dropped online, and with the offer of a free shipping with a Chanel gift keepsake box, I couldn’t resist ordering it.
I love the simple and sleek design of the Chanel lipstick; it’s one of those products that make you feel like a princess when you reach for it. La Furtive is a slightly rosy beige lipstick that on me, is almost invisible. I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping for something slightly darker, but I do like that it’s very understated, even demure. The more I wear it, the more I love it.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Furtive
Rating: 3.5 out of 5
- Hydrating for a matte shade
- Lovely color
- Nice packaging
- Makes lips plumper
- Applies smoothly
- Expensive, at $32 a pop
- Not available in stores, sold exclusively through Chanel.com
- Somewhat sheer, requires 2-3 swipes
Description: For an expensive lipstick, I was expecting a bit less transparency, I suppose. Nonetheless, it’s still a very nice shade, and VERY hydrating for a matte lipstick. I also think this is a color that will look good on just about anyone. To replicate the look of the FW2011 show, I’m currently hunting for a slightly darker lipliner (reportedly Chanel’s precision lipliner in “Natural” was used).
