Cosplay

In 2001, I attended my first anime convention, A-Kon in Dallas. Since then, I’ve attended anime conventions semi-annually, usually going to hunt for rare merchandise and socialize with like-minded nerds. In 2005, I cosplayed Anime Expo, and since then, it’s become an every-now-and-then type of hobby.

For those unfamiliar with cosplay:

Cosplay (kosupure), short for “costume play”, is type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan. Favorite sources include manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies. — Wikipedia

Due to lack of funds and time, it’s not an endeavor which I frequently undertake; however, I thought I’d gather my costumes and convention photos/reports here anyway.

How cool is this!? I would really enjoy this. I have seen something similar where everyone went back to the midevil times, and were knights, ladies, etc. but this is a cool update.

I know this isn’t exactly where to put this comment, but I could not for the life of me find your askbox in your new tumblr layout. I was going through some of your previous posts on there when I saw the one about pigtails for halloween. Since I had no idea what odangos were I googled it and came across this: http://andy.leuqarte.com/odango/odango.htm
I don’t know if you’ve already figured out what you’d like to do with your hair but this looked fairly easy so I figured I’d share it in case you were still looking for something. (:
